The iPad went on sale in the USA just a couple of months ago, in early 2010. It had already been anticipated that demand would be high but the actual level of demand went way beyond what anyone had imagined. Even now, over 2 months later, Apple is selling over 200,000 of the devices every single day, all this in spite of what was widely considered a rather high price.

Demand was so high, in fact, that the international launch of the iPad had to be delayed in order that Apple could meet the demand in the United States. Is there really a way of making money online from home ?

If you believe all the hype from countless “Business Opportunity” sites, then making money online is dead easy. Not only that but it’s quick too! What’s more you don’t actually have to do any work either  -  somehow it all happens automatically, probably because you’re such a great person!

In fact, we’re all going to be earning at least $36,547 by this time next month!

This is of course a load of BS! If it was true then everybody would be doing it. The fact that so many people who start an online business fail – about 97% of people trying to earn online will never make any money – shows you just how difficult it is to be a successful Internet Marketer. Interestingly, this about the same as the numbers who fail with offline businesses too – which probably tells us that not everybody is cut out to be an entrepreneur!

The pull of the online sales pages is very strong though, and the amounts involved seem relatively small. $50 here, another $97 there, and it can soon mount up! Before you know it you’ve lost a small fortune trying to get rich! Credits cards maxed and a bank account looking decidedly scarlet!

It’s time to wise up. Think about it for a moment. If a complete stranger came up to you on the street and said “Give me $37 now and I will double your money by this time next week” would you hand over your hard earned cash? I doubt it! That little voice inside your head would sound alarm bells – we know the world doesn’t really work like that.

And yet every second of the day people give away vast sums of their hard earned money online to total strangers making similar promises. Do we think the same common sense rules of the street don’t apply online? They certainly do – and some. So, if we fall for all this nonsense then perhaps we deserve to lose money and, “Yes”, in the past I’ve been suckered too!

It can work though – it is possible to make money online from home. My experience has taught me that there are three secrets to running a successful home based business:

1) Product

2) Demand

3) Competition
